Rufus Brown practices in the areas of intellectual property, including trademark and copyright law, as well as commercial and civil rights litigation, administrative law and outdoor law. Tommie Burke's practice covers family and adoption law, professional licensing and increasingly serving as mediator or court appointed referee.
Prior to establishing Brown & Burke, Rufus Brown served as Deputy Attorney General for Civil Litigation in the Maine Attorney General's Office and Litigation Chair at one of Portland's leading law firms. Tommie Burke also practiced law at one of Portland's key litigation firms.
In 1999 and again in 2001, Brown & Burke was the recipient of the Maine Bar Foundation's Pro Bono Publico Award for Most Hours on a Completed Case by a Law Firm. We are regular volunteers for the Maine Lawyers Referral Project, Pine Tree Legal Assistance, the Equal Access to Justice Project and the Maine Civil Liberties Union.
